Viral Video Captures Humanoid Robots at Beijing World Robot Conference: ‘Resemble Actresses in Suits’

A video of humanoid robots with human-like features displayed at the World Robot Conference in Beijing has captured widespread attention online. The now-viral video, shared by a user on X, shows these humanoid “female” robots walking through a hallway and posing for the media.

The user who shared the video wrote, “This is from the Beijing World Robotics Congress. China seems far ahead in the race for humanoid robots. These look straight out of sci-fi.”

However, observerofindia.com could not verify the authenticity of the video.

With over 876,000 views on the post, the video sparked a variety of reactions, with many users debating whether the robots were genuine. One user commented, “These look like actresses in suits. Nothing suggests these are actual robots.” Another added, “You may need to check your eyesight…those are women in costumes, and behind them are some animatronic puppets.”

“Sorry, but I’m betting the two in front are humans—their leg flesh wobbles, and they’re wearing skin-tight clothes. Small waist? Corsets. 100% human. The two at the back aren’t doing much; they are real,” another user speculated. A different user claimed, “I had a friend at the scene who touched the robot’s face. It was shocking because it had warmth but lacked the detail of pores.”

People’s Daily Online reported that the humanoid robot can move at 2 meters per second and is equipped with advanced three-finger force control hands.

According to Global Times, China’s Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center showcased its new humanoid robot, NAVIAI, at the conference. Standing at 1.65 meters tall and weighing 60 kilograms, the robot demonstrated various skills, including tea making and delivering speeches.

China hosted its 8th World Robot Conference in Beijing from August 21 to 25. The event featured over 30 major and 80 minor events, with more than 140 competition groups. Participants of all ages from over 7,000 teams across 10 countries took part in the conference, as reported by China Global Television Network (CGTN).
