Shatrughan Sinha is reportedly upset with his daughter Sonakshi Sinha for not informing him about her wedding plans, according to her ‘mama’ Pahlaj Nihalani. Last week, news emerged that Sonakshi is set to marry her longtime boyfriend, Zaheer Iqbal. A leaked wedding invitation confirmed the news and revealed that Sonakshi and Zaheer have been dating for seven years. In his initial response to the wedding rumors, Shatrughan admitted he was unaware of the wedding but sounded upset.
When asked about Shatrughan’s reaction, Pahlaj Nihalani confirmed that Shatrughan is upset but added that it won’t last long. He assured that Shatrughan will be attending the ceremony. Sonakshi and Zaheer will be getting married on June 23 in an intimate wedding ceremony in Mumbai.
Speaking with Times Now, Pahlaj said, “Yes, but he can’t remain upset for long, not with Sonakshi. She is his beloved daughter. There is no question of not attending the wedding. As Shatruji mentioned, children today inform, they don’t ask for permission. Why should he be upset if Sonakshi is marrying the boy of her choice? Shatruji himself married the girl of his choice forty years ago. Even I chose my own life partner. One should not have unrealistic expectations from one’s children.”
Defending Shatrughan’s initial reaction, Pahlaj said, “You must have spoken to him when he was out of Mumbai for almost three months due to elections. His wife must have known and decided to tell him about the marriage after his return. Now he is back in Mumbai, and all is well between Sonakshi and her family.”
