Actor Rajinikanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai late Monday night for a scheduled procedure, according to reports. While there has been no official confirmation from the hospital or Rajinikanth’s team, sources suggest that the 73-year-old superstar, who reportedly experienced stomach pain, is stable and the elective procedure is set for Tuesday.
Further details about Rajinikanth’s health and the procedure are still awaited.
In late 2020, a similar health concern led Rajinikanth to abandon his plans to launch a long-anticipated political career. After announcing a political party in December 2020, he withdrew the decision within the same month due to health issues and the ongoing pandemic.
Currently, Rajinikanth is busy shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie. Earlier on Monday, he met veteran filmmakers SP Muthuraman and AVM Saravanan, with photos of their meeting going viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel, is scheduled for release on October 10. Produced by Lyca Productions, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan, with music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by SR Kathir.
