PM Modi Attributes India’s Global Rise to the ‘Reform, Perform, Transform’ Mantra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has credited India’s “Reform, Perform, Transform” mantra for the country’s transformative rise on the global stage over the last decade. Speaking via videoconferencing at the News9 Global Summit, PM Modi highlighted how India’s growing international influence is now recognized globally, citing Germany’s ‘Focus on India’ document as a key example.

The summit’s theme, “India-Germany: A Roadmap for Sustainable Growth,” reflects the strong, responsible partnership between the two nations. PM Modi emphasized that the Indo-German partnership has flourished in recent years, with India emerging as one of the fastest-growing economies globally. He pointed out that every nation seeks a partnership with India, showcasing the country’s strategic importance, which has been shaped by the “Reform, Perform, Transform” approach.

The Prime Minister outlined key reforms such as improving ease of doing business, reducing compliance burdens, and implementing GST to simplify the tax system. He also noted efforts to stabilize the banking sector and ensure timely, affordable capital for development. These reforms have fostered a stable and progressive policy environment, positioning India as an attractive destination for international partnerships.

PM Modi also highlighted the strong ties between India and Germany, noting the presence of about 300,000 Indians in Germany and over 50,000 Indian students—the largest group of Indian students abroad. Additionally, more than 18,000 companies are now operating in India, reflecting robust bilateral cooperation.

Addressing the summit, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of Europe to India’s geopolitical, trade, and investment relations, with Germany playing a key role. He also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Indo-German Strategic Partnership in 2024, a year marking significant events such as Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s third visit to India and the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Businesses in Delhi after 12 years.

PM Modi noted that the historical ties between India and Germany date back centuries, with German contributions to Indian languages and trade. Bilateral trade now stands at approximately $34 billion and is expected to grow further.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister emphasized India’s strides in manufacturing, positioning the country as a global leader in sectors such as mobile electronics, steel, cement, and two-wheelers. With the “Make in India” initiative, India is creating a favorable environment for manufacturers, including those in the semiconductor industry, and offering production-linked incentives to boost production.

India’s progress in digital and physical infrastructure was also highlighted, with PM Modi showcasing the nation’s unique digital public infrastructure and inviting German companies to invest further in India’s growth.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister called for collaboration between India’s dynamism and Germany’s engineering expertise, welcoming global partnerships in shaping a prosperous future.
