Manu Bhaker Wins India’s First Medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics: Bronze in 10m Air Pistol

Manu Bhaker, thanks to her medal at Paris 2024, becomes the first woman shooter from India to win an Olympic medal, joining four other male shooters in an exclusive club.

Manu Bhaker became the first woman shooter from India to ever win an Olympic medal, claiming a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. She was just 0.1 points behind Kim Yeji when she was eliminated in the final. Kim eventually won a silver medal, while her Korean compatriot Oh Ye Jin claimed the gold.

Three years after her Tokyo Olympics campaign was derailed by a pistol malfunction, the 22-year-old secured a bronze medal behind two South Korean shooters. The nine-time World Cup medallist is only the fifth Indian to win a medal in shooting.
