Gurugram Inaugurates First Traffic Engineering and Organization Development Centre to Boost Traffic Management and Road Safety
In a bid to improve traffic management and enhance road safety in the city, the Gurugram Traffic Police, in collaboration with Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), launched Gurugram’s first Traffic Engineering Centre and Organization Development Centre at the DCP (Traffic) office on Friday.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the centre can monitor 1,100 cameras from a single location, enabling efficient traffic management, quick responses, and better coordination. The facility will also provide dedicated training to traffic police officers, focusing on traffic and accident management to improve their skills and knowledge.
A key development in improving road safety, the Traffic Engineering Centre will oversee 218 junctions in the city, facilitating better traffic control, accident analysis, fault detection, and providing recommendations for improvement.
Additionally, the Organization Development Centre will serve as a training hub for traffic police personnel, helping them improve their traffic management practices throughout Gurugram.
On the occasion, Shatrujeet Kapur, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana, expressed his confidence that the centre would significantly improve traffic management in the city, reduce road accidents, and save lives. He also highlighted the role of the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) as a leading institution in road safety and traffic engineering.
Kapur emphasized that the collaboration through these centres would lead to positive outcomes in road engineering and traffic management, helping to organize traffic more efficiently and reduce accidents in Gurugram.
